We all have gloomy days, soggy days, happy days, and many more days that you would have experienced for yourself. There are also times when you feel so demotivated to catch up with your daily routine. Yet there are those days where you linger to know what the purpose of your life is. Check out my blog post on What is your IKIGAI to unleash your life purpose. There are days when you are stuck in boredom and you are not that person who wants to sit idle. However, you do not know what action to take and sit back with that gloomy mood on.

Sounds like familiar to you. Yes, we have all been there might be once, twice, or many a time in our life. Let me tell you, you need some motivation and something that lights up your mood. You look out to friends, relatives, mobile games, catchy apps, browse Facebook, Instagram, and what not to beat that boredom. I am not an anti-social media user, but truth is turning to social media when your mood is off does more harm than anything good. You always look outward to get that motivation and forget completely something important. The utmost important, self-directed, ever lightning, bubbling energy called ‘Yourself’. The person within ‘You’, that charming, ever present personality called ‘You’. The motivation that is needed is all within and you need to start looking inwards to know what you need to do to drive that happy mood back in your life.

Meditate: The most important factor to get back to yourself is to calm yourself first and to quiet your mind. This calmness is possible when you try to sit quiet and let those thoughts flow through your mind. You are much at peace after this exercise only to realize that your mind wanted to be lent out all those driving thoughts. Now you experience some calmness. I would recommend the book ‘The Science of Meditation: How to change your brain, mind, and body‘ by Daniel Goleman. This book not only tells you about the power of meditation but also how to gain maximum benefit by changing the way your brain, mind, and body operates in general. This is a must-read book to get start with mindful thinking and attaining peace.

Hobbies: With fast moving life, we are busy running behind money, fame, and we forget to catch up with our own self. While you meditate and calm your mind, it becomes easy to discover what interests you. Pick that as a hobby and indulge in it. Be it trying out a new recipe, or gardening, or playing a guitar. Whatever that interest you, do this and you start to feel motivated back to life.  As a well said liner: “When your life brings you down… your hobbies brings you up!! Have hobbies!”.

Self-help books: Although we are in the era of Alexa, we also have Kindle for our benefit. Books are the greatest source of abundance knowledge and positive energy. Reading self-help books not only boosts your self-confidence but also broadens your horizons, lets that creative juices start flowing back in your life. If you are like me who likes to read books and looking for one that is trending, ‘The Monkey Theory‘ by Sfurti Sahare is the book to read. The book clearly depicts how our mind chatters like a monkey, how to conquer that monkey mind, and spread happiness. A must-read book for all those reading enthusiasts.

Exercise: The body and mind are interconnected. To improve your mood, move your body to do some workouts like jogging, cardio, yoga, or any form of physical activity. The ultimate is to release endorphin chemical in your body that happens when you exercise. Physical activities also stimulate the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin chemical in your body. These are the chemicals that help your mood to enhance. The great way to quickly get back to good vibes is by exercising.

Music: The rhythm, the tone, and lyrics in a music play a significant impact on human brain. The soothing music and any music that you love is what you need to listen that helps you get back yourself to good state of mind. Again, music releases dopamine in your brain that enhances your mood. It is recommended that you play a soothing, calm music at your home to maintain the positive energy levels. This has great impact on your actions at home. You notice that the way you converse, you do things, and time spent are more meaningful, and well lived.
